Mountain Cove Vineyard

Reputed to be the oldest commercial vineyard in Virginia, Mountain Cove’s first plantings date back to 1974. Founder Al Weed would later run as the Democratic candidate for congress in Virginia’s Fifth District. Situated on photogenic farmland in Lovingston, Mountain Cove offers both single-origin and blended wines that mix French and native Virginian varietals, as well as various fruit and honey wines, all grown and produced to meet Vegan qualification standards. An outdoor Performance Pavilion and indoor Wine Cellar Bistro are available for weddings and private events.

 Wines Featured:

  • Red: Tinto blend (Norton, Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin)
  • White: Chardonnay, Villard Blanc (Skyline White)
  • Fruit wines: Blackberry, Apple, Peach

Tour fee: $5 per person

  • March – December: Wednesday through Sunday, noon – 5pm
  • January & February: by appointment
