Prince Michel Vineyards & Winery
Originally founded in 1982 by French vintners Jean and Silvian LeDucq, Prince Michel Vineyards & Winery became known for being, through its unbroken connection to European viticultural tradition, one of the East Coast’s few distinctly Old World-influenced wineries. With ownership passing to design entrepreneur Kristin Holzman in 2005, Prince Michel also became one of only a handful of female-owned wineries in the world. With one of the widest distribution networks in the region and numerous awards under its belt, Prince Michel is home to two highly recognized brands: its namesake Prince Michel wines, and Rapidan River wines. Its main estate, between Culpeper and Madison, features four luxury French provincial-styled suites named for beloved Parisian locales. Prince Michel also maintains a wine shop on Carter Mountain, with weekly “sunsets” wine tastings from late spring through the beginning of fall.
